passionate living

Hey there! Did you know that you are meant to live a life that you’re passionate about? You are. The idea of this is incredibly life changing, so stick with me.

Passionate living could be defined simply as living in a way that excites you, fulfills you, in a way that you would regardless of if you were making money or not. Living in a way that you want to, not that you feel like you have to. Living, not just existing. Imagine if everyone contributed to their family & friends, community, economy, the world in a way they are passionate about. I don’t know about you but the very thought of that gets my blood pumping and my heart racing.

If you don’t know what you’re passionate about yet, commit to finding out.. I promise it’s worth it. Allow yourself to be curious. What is something you get excited even thinking about? Something you studied in school or even now, just for fun? Something that you may have seen someone create a career out of and instantly you’re thinking, “How did they do this and how can I do it too?” It might help to look back on what you loved as a kid, before you were conditioned to believe that money could not be made doing what you loved, unless you made frequent use of your toy medical kit. Oprah Winfrey said, “If you don’t know what your passion is, realize that one reason for your existence on earth is to find it.”

I found my passions after going through a super unhealthy relationship and breakup. It was amazing (hah) - the first time I stepped on my yoga mat, the first time I wrapped my hands for kickboxing, when I started eating veggies (lots of them), and then when I started to become obsessed with the idea that everyone should be living & contributing in a way that is completely fulfilling - the energy I felt was entirely new & exciting. I am extremely passionate about passionate living!

The thing is, there’s a reason that you’re passionate about these things! If you can relate to what I’m talking about, it feels like something you were always meant to do. Almost like a calling, doesn’t it? Let’s listen! Get creative and find ways to use your passions to improve your life and the lives of those around you. If you believe in God, a higher power, you’re committed to self-growth, etc. it may be easy to connect with the idea that you are meant to do great things and to help others. If none of that resonates with you, I’m sure you can at least acknowledge the fact that when you’re doing something that you love frequently, the energy in your everyday life - your interactions with others, your liveliness throughout the day, your internal dialogue- even the most routine tasks feel different.

At this point you could be thinking, “That’s great, but I love wearing comfy clothes 24/7 and that isn’t getting me anywhere fast.” Listen. There’s a 16-year-old girl that made six figures in 2018 from selling slime on Etsy. That’s right, slime. There is a teacher in South Korea who felt excited about teaching English and also wanted to make money. He could have decided that his pursuit of teaching would equal a low income for the rest of his life. But instead of choosing to think low-vibrational, uncreative thoughts, he chose to think of solutions. The very act of choosing this over the complaining opens up a whole new playing field where you can create and seize opportunities that others won’t be able to think of or notice. This teacher started teaching classes online, charging $4 a class, it took off, and he reported making $4 million last year.

What I am saying cannot be proven or disproven until you find out for yourself. Honor your intuition. Honor your passions. I’m not saying your career must be based on something you’re passionate about, but how great would it be if it was? What I’m saying is, be creative and come up with ways to incorporate what you love doing into your life more and more. Experiment and find ways to choose passionate living in your daily life and see how you change and evolve as a person and how your life must then change and evolve with you.

There is a quote by Marianne Williamson that I absolutely love. It goes,

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness

That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves

Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small

Does not serve the world.

There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking

So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine,

As children do.

We were born to make manifest

The glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us;

It’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,

We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we’re liberated from our own fear,

Our presence automatically liberates others.

I’m going to go ahead and highlight this sentence: your playing small does not serve the world. If you are not already living your most passionate life, do not allow yourself to shrink into thinking that you are not capable, competent, talented. You are truly capable of anything you put your mind to. So, let’s work towards contributing to those around us in a way that would have us jumping out of bed in the morning, not hitting the snooze. In a way that lights you up the moment you get to thinking about it. In a way that you’re dying to bring up in a conversation but you’ve already talked about it 100x.. and you don’t want to drive your friends insane.

This may seem scary, but far more scary, to me, is the idea of having gone through life with the regret of having an unrealized dream. Vibe high, you got this. Let your passions fuel your good health and your good health fuel your passions. Xx

Now, if you or someone you know are already living and contributing in a way that lights you up, I would love to share your stories.
